Maylands and Dianella were Perth’s top selling suburbs north of the river last week, amid a tight total sales market of just 747 transactions.
Jones and Co director Kelly Jones said that with a median house price of $567,500, Dianella represented very good value for an established suburb less than 10km from the CBD.
Dianella offers a variety of housing styles, ranging from modest post-war dwellings on large blocks to contemporary double-storey homes.
“The lure of Dianella Regional Open Space with its popular community centre, playgrounds, dog exercise park and numerous sporting grounds plays a significant part in the decision-making process of prospective buyers,” Kelly said. “Quality schools and public transport as well as a good variety of accessible retail are also part of why this suburb continues to do so well.”
Nearby Maylands was also a popular choice for buyers last week. Only 5km to the CBD and straddling the Perth-Midland rail line, Maylands commands a median house price of $635,000 and sits riverside with much of the suburb on the picturesque Swan River peninsula.
Kelly said Maylands and adjoining Bayswater, with a median of just $550,000, were still extraordinary value for established riverside neighbourhoods.
“These suburbs are home to a culturally diverse and vibrant communities set against the backdrop of thriving town café and retail centres,” she said. “Character homes complement modern apartments and they all dovetail to produce a really eclectic vibe.”
According to REIWA there were 10,657 properties for sale in Perth last week.
